Are the "Plan B" Movement's Environmental Goals Too Utopian?

Dear EarthTalk: Some friends of mine were talking about a book called Plan B that proposes a plan for rescuing the environment and ending poverty around the world. Is it a realistic plan or just some utopian pipe dream??Robin Jackson, Richmond, Va.

What started as a book has grown into a movement known as ?Plan B? which presents a roadmap for achieving worldwide goals of stabilizing both population and climate. According to Lester Brown, author of the 2003 book, Plan B (and three subsequent updates) and founder of the non-profit environmental think tank, Earth Policy Institute, the plan is based on replacing the fossil-fuel-based, automobile-centered, throwaway economy with a new economic model powered by abundant sources of renewable energy.

Brown argues for transportation systems that are diverse and aim to maximize mobility, widely employing light rail, buses and bicycles. ?A Plan B economy comprehensively reuses and recycles materials,? he says. ?Consumer products from cars to computers are designed to be disassembled into their component parts and completely recycled.?

Brown even proposes a budget for eradicating poverty, educating the world?s youth and delivering better health care for everyone. ?It also presents ways to restore our natural world by planting trees, conserving topsoil, stabilizing water tables, and protecting biological diversity,? says Brown. ?With each new wind farm, rooftop solar water heater, paper recycling facility, bicycle path, marine park, rural school, public health facility, and reforestation program, we move closer to a Plan B economy.?

Plan B is an integrated program with four interdependent goals: cutting net carbon dioxide emissions 80 percent by 2020, stabilizing population at eight billion or lower, eradicating poverty, and restoring the Earth?s natural systems. Where Plan B really hits home is in the numbers: Brown puts realistic dollar values on the various aspects of his plan, and compares these costs with current military spending. Needless to say, restoring the environment and economy looks like a bargain when viewed against what the developed nations of the world spend on being ready for battle.

The beauty of Plan B is that it is feasible with current technologies and could well be achieved by 2020 with a concerted international effort. Brown reportedly wrote the latest incarnation of Plan B as a warning call for leaders of the world to begin ?mobilizing to save civilization? given that time is more than ever of the essence. Luminaries from Bill Clinton to E.O. Wilson to Ted Turner have spoken highly of Plan B, and at least one university (Cal State at Chico) has made the latest version of the book(Plan B 4.0) required reading for all incoming freshmen.

Those looking for more up-to-date information on the evolution of the Plan B model and progress toward its goals should tune into the website of the Earth Policy Institute, the think tank started by Brown in 2001 and currently used as a central node in the growing network of thousands of entities and individuals around the globe supportive of making Plan B into reality. Prior to founding Earth Policy Institute, Brown was well known in environmental and policy circles for his work with the Worldwatch Institute, a pioneering environmental think tank he launched back in 1974.

Photo - Disco Pigs

Photo - Disco Pigs

Written in an almost incomprehensible vernacular, Disco Pigs, the Week 1 ADC Lateshow poses an interesting puzzle to performers. We catch up with the team to hear their thoughts on this strange and extraordinary script...

In Enda Walsh's rite of passage drama, a train is a choo choo, a cow is a moo moo and a pocket is a plopet. Maria Pawlikowska, playing one half of this two-hander opposite George Johnston for the ADC Week 1 Lateshow, said "I'd never read anything like it before - the fact that it's written in thick, heavy dialect, firstly, which can completely throw the reader off, but the teen frustration and disillusionment [that the play deals with] is pretty universal and easy for most of us to identify with, and Pig and Runt have that kind of absurd humour and wit that accompanies that sense of disenchantment."

The strange patios in which the play is written is part phonetic Cork accent, part personal in-jokes and slang between the two central figures, and forms both a barrier and a gateway to the audience's understanding. Director Charlie Risius told us "You could definitely say Pig and Runt have erected a linguistic barrier between themselves and the rest of the world. Runt tells us that when they were growing up they simply refused to talk to any human beings other than each other. In the play we only really see them talk to others to insult or threaten them. But equally, between Pig and Runt the language is the opposite of a barrier, it is a conduit for their interactions, a vehicle of intimacy and mutual understanding, and the fantastic thing is that because the play is told from Pig and Runt's perspective, the audience (and the actors) are brought inside the barrier. Spectators are drawn into Pig and Runt's world and so, once they get accustomed to the language and the Cork accent (in the same way it takes five or ten minutes to attune to the verse when you're watching Shakespeare), I think that the patois will actually be anything but a barrier; it will hopefully bring the audience closer to Pig and Runt and help them to understand them - it certainly has had this effect for us in rehearsal."

Rehearsals sound hard work, though. Johnston reflected "The first challenge was working out exactly what Walsh means with certain words which he has written, i.e. 'fox' which is Walsh's approximation of a Cork pronunciation of the English word 'folks'; similarly 'tear' actually means 'here'. A lot of this is 'bedroom-work' but some of it is really quite ambiguous so we go through it in the rehearsal room with Charlie before we put a scene on its feet so everyone knows exactly what everyone else is saying! The other important piece of pre-rehearsal work to do is work out exactly what any references in the script are referring to; for instance Sonia O'Sullivan, who won gold in the 1995 World Athletics Championships is referenced repeatedly so it's important that we know exactly who she is so we can understand exactly what this reference means." Pawlikowska added "The play is going to be one of the hardest I've done, I think - not just because of the language barrier, the Cork dialect combined with Pig and Runt's own bizarre vocabulary - but the sheer physical exertion of it all! There's a lot of fighting, role-playing and the intensity of both characters really requires total commitment to every tiny gesture. I think the fact that the play is written in such a particularly unusual way meant Runt's voice was actually easy enough for me to find - Enda Walsh is a linguistic genius in that sense. The rhythm, for one, constantly gives me momentum, a direction, verbal (and physical) mannerisms to work with. I love how the musicality of the play is relentlessly contrasted with all the brilliantly vulgar things that Pig and Runt say and do."

It becomes clear that the linguistics of the play have a real effect on creating the production. Risius discussed its effect on their thinking process. "The extremity of the play's patois has certainly made all of us think very hard about the language and how to communicate everything we want to get across to the audience. In many ways it's been very beneficial, I think - having to rethink your assumptions and your usual methods makes you reassess things that normally you take for granted, and that has led to some interesting and fresh ideas. You have to strike a balance between naturalism and catering to the requirements of the audience - for example, people in Cork actually speak incredibly fast but obviously that wouldn't work on stage because the audience wouldn't have a clue what was going on. We've been working on getting the cast to savour each word and to roll it around their mouths, to really think about the physical process of making the sounds. This not only makes sure the words are clearly enunciated so that they'll be comprehensible, but we've found that it gives the words a lot of weight and body, which is very dynamic, so that when, for example, Pig describes how his mother in labour 'heave an rip all insie' it becomes almost onomatopoeic, and very visceral and vivid." It's a bold choice for these student thespians, but it sounds to us like they know what they're doing.

Wallace works collected online

The great naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace now has an online presence to match that of Charles Darwin.

The two men independently formulated the theory of evolution by natural selection, and announced it in tandem in July 1858

But it is one of those quirks of history that Darwin got all the fame.

His collected works were digitised and posted on the web in 2006. Now, the writings and drawings of Wallace have received the same treatment.

The effort has been completed by the same historian, too - John van Wyhe.

But whereas Dr van Wyhe produced Darwin Online from Cambridge University, UK, he has led the new Wallace Online project from the National University of Singapore (NUS).

Wallace was a major scientific figure in South East Asia.

"What this should hopefully do is result in a major upgrade in the quality of writing about Wallace," the historian told BBC News.

"Next year is the centenary of his death. Just like 2009 was the big Darwin year, 2013 will be the big Wallace year. And I hope now that people have access to all of his literature, it will make a big difference to what they say and write about him."

Wallace Online gathers together in one place for the first time all of the naturalist's writings and illustrations.

There are 28,000 pages of searchable documents and 22,000 images. Among the online gems is that first announcement of the theory of evolution delivered to a London scientific meeting 154 years ago.

It remains one of the great coincidences in scientific history that the one person Wallace should choose to approach to share his ideas on natural selection was the only other scientist who separately had come to the same conclusions - Charles Darwin.

Quite why Wallace never achieved a similar level of fame has long been debated, but the lower profile should not be seen as a reflection on the man's talents or achievements, argues Dr van Wyhe.

The Wallace Online collection certainly bears testament to a prolific output. Like Darwin, Wallace was also a great traveller, spending large chunks of time in Brazil (1848-1853) and in South East Asia (1854-1862).

"It's very appropriate that we've done Wallace Online from NUS because Wallace was the pioneering figure in the study of this part of the world," said Dr van Wyhe.

"He spent eight years here, using Singapore as his base. He made major discoveries - he discovered hundreds of new species, going to places no naturalist had ever gone to before. And then, of course, there is The Wallace Line."

The Wallace Line is a term still in use today and refers to the sharp division between the types of animals in Australia and those on the Asian archipelago.

Wallace identified this abrupt transition, but could not satisfactorily explain it. Nor would he have been able to.

It is only with the 20th Century theory of plate tectonics that scientists can now describe how Australia, with its unique flora and fauna, was delivered from another part of the globe and abutted to South East Asia.

Dr van Wyhe said: "Wallace is an amazing example of somebody who had no privilege, no wealth, no connections - and who went out on his own to make his own way in the world; and he discovered so many amazing things, not just evolution.

"That's why for so many people, he remains such an inspiring figure.

"He's the sort of person that you can aspire to be. You can just do it yourself through independent thinking and hard work."

Bahrain company leads takeover of Leeds

By MICHAEL CASEY

AP Sports Write

Associated Press Sports

updated 10:42 a.m. ET Sept. 27, 2012

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) -A Bahrain investment firm has signed an agreement to oversee the takeover of fallen English football club Leeds.

GFH Capital Limited, a 100 percent subsidiary of Gulf Finance House, said on Thursday it signed an exclusive agreement to "lead and arrange" the acquisition of Leeds.

The club has fallen on hard times since almost collapsing in 2001 after overspending to reach the Champions League semifinals. Once a powerhouse in the topflight, the club is 12th in the second-tier League Championship.

GFH did not provide any further details about its plans. It was unclear if GFH was purchasing the club for itself or on behalf of investors.

GFH is a Bahrain-based investment bank that operates in accordance with Islamic financial principles, which generally prohibit the charging of interest and bar investments that run contrary to the faith. Most of its ownership is traded on regional stock exchanges, though a number of public and private Gulf-based investors also own stakes in the company.

Like many Gulf firms that borrowed heavily as they expanded last decade, GFH faced financial challenges when the global financial crisis rocked the region. It completed the process of reworking the terms of a $45 million debt in July.

Gulf investors have increasingly put their money into European football clubs, with billions of dollars being poured into Manchester City by its Abu Dhabi-based owner Sheik Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and most recently the takeover of Paris Saint-Germain by a Qatari government-linked investment fund.

However, not all bids have gone well.

Bahrain-based investment firm Western Gulf Advisory made a bid for Blackburn before dropping out of contention while a bid by Dubai investors to buy Spanish club Getafe unraveled after the checks received by the club failed to clear. Several people claiming to represent the Dubai investors have been arrested.

Sixing Liu Convicted In Military Data-Sharing Case

NEWARK, N.J. ? A former employee of a New Jersey-based defense contractor was found guilty Wednesday of taking U.S. military technology trade secrets from his employer and exporting them to his native China.

Sixing Liu, also known as Steve Liu, worked for Space & Navigation, a New Jersey division of New York-based L3 Communications. Liu, who had lived until recently in Flanders, N.J., was arrested at his home in Deerfield, Ill., in March 2011 and accused of taking restricted military data and presenting them at two conferences in China the previous fall. Prosecutors argued the technology was proprietary and could be used for target locators and other military applications.

A federal jury in Newark found Liu guilty on nine counts, including exporting defense-related data without a license, possessing stolen trade secrets and lying to federal agents. He was acquitted on two counts of lying to federal authorities about one of his visits to China.

"We will not tolerate the exploitation of this country's opportunities through the theft of our secrets," said New Jersey's U.S. Attorney, Paul Fishman.

Liu, 49, was ordered held until his Jan 7 sentencing. He faces more than 20 years in prison and possible deportation.

Liu sat quietly at the defense table and showed little reaction as the verdict was read. The father of three later turned to one of his daughters and handed her his watch and the contents of his pockets as he prepared to be led off to jail.

Liu's attorney, James Tunick, said they would file an appeal.

According to the indictment, Liu took a personal laptop computer to conferences on nanotechnology in Chongqing in 2009 and Shanghai in 2010 and, while there, gave presentations that described the technology he was working on, in violation of U.S. laws that prohibit exporting defense materials without a license or approval from the Department of State.

Returning from Shanghai in November 2010, Liu lied about his involvement in the conference when questioned by customs officials at Newark Liberty International Airport, prosecutors said.

"The United States spends billions of dollars each year on research and development, and this `intellectual capital' is very attractive to others," said Michael Ward, the head of the FBI in New Jersey. "If (the Chinese) are able to acquire this research, they can save billions and quickly develop their own products to compete against the United States, be it in the world economic market or on the battlefield."

Tunick had argued his client had not intentionally violated any rules and had downloaded information on his personal laptop to work on outside the office. Tunick also said Liu had received only brief training on the company's restrictions on sharing proprietary information and was unfamiliar with U.S. import-export rules. He also sought to downplay the conferences in China as academic gatherings that featured professors from many countries, including the U.S.

Describing his client as "an educator," Tunick said Liu's punishment seemed harshly disproportionate to those levied against U.S. corporations found guilty of violating the same trade laws.

"There was no financial motive, no quid pro quo," Tunick said of Liu's case. "On these types of alleged crimes, the Department of Justice treats corporations differently."

Ahead of the Bell: Research in Motion

NEW YORK (AP) ? Shares of Research in Motion climbed in premarket trading on Wednesday, as an analyst said that the Blackberry maker's second-quarter financial results may not be as bad as Wall Street is expecting.

Shaw Wu of Sterne, Agee & Leach says Wall Street is anticipating that Research in Motion will report a large decline in quarterly revenue and a big operating loss. The company will report its results on Thursday.

"With low expectations, we believe there is a fair chance that the company may meet or even slightly beat," Wu wrote in a client note.

Analysts polled by FactSet expect a loss of 46 cents per share on revenue of $2.43 billion.

Still, Wu says the second-quarter performance may not matter, as investors may focus more on the Canadian company's cash balance and its job-cutting plans.

In June, Research in Motion said that it would eliminate 5,000 jobs as part of a previously announced initiative to cut $1 billion in annual costs this year. The job cuts represent approximately 30 percent of RIM's workforce of about 16,500.

Wu says RIM had a cash balance of $2.25 billion in the first quarter. While it is anticipated RIM will face an operating loss in the second quarter, the analyst says that investors will be looking to see if the company was able to hold onto or even grow its cash balance by collecting on accounts receivables and working capital changes. This was something RIM was able to do in the first quarter, Wu explained.

The analyst reaffirmed a "Neutral" rating.

William Blair's Anil Doradla is concerned that RIM may not meet his quarterly revenue estimate of $2.3 billion as the company deals with intense competition and a weak product offering to consumers.

"Blackberry smartphones remain an afterthought in the consumer market," Doradla wrote.

The analyst says he doesn't believe there will be any major improvement in RIM's share price until the Blackberry 10 rolls out, and even then it remains to be seen if the new device will be embraced by consumers.

Doradla maintained a "Market Perform" rating.

Research in Motion Ltd.'s stock added 18 cents, or 2.7 percent, to $6.78 before the market open. The shares have lost more than half their value since the beginning of the year.

Taiwanese ships clash with Japanese coast ... - World News - MSNBC

Japanese coast guard ships shoot water cannon at Taiwanese fishing boats in the East China Sea in a territorial dispute. NBCNews.com's Dara Brown reports.

By NBC's Arata Yamamoto and wire reports

About 50 Taiwanese vessels on Tuesday entered waters near a group of uninhabited islands at the center of a bitter territorial dispute involving Japan, China and Taiwan.

Japanese public broadcaster NHK showed footage of a Japanese coast guard ship shooting water at a Taiwanese fishing boat, while a Taiwanese patrol vessel blasted water at the coast guard ship in reply during an incident near the disputed Senkaku or Diaoyu islands, as they are known respectively in Japan and China/Taiwan.

The Taiwanese vessels ? 40 fishing boats and 10 coast guard ships ? entered the waters to protest the recent Japanese government's purchase of the islands from a private owner.

But by noon Tuesday all of the Taiwanese vessels had left the area, the Japanese coast guard said, after claiming their rights to fish in the area.

Japan infuriates China by buying disputed isles

The islands were nationalized by the Japanese government this month after it emerged that the outspoken governor of Tokyo, Shintaro Ishihara, had been in negotiations with the islands' owner to seal a more provocative deal by promising to build an emergency port for Japanese fishermen and various weather and communications facilities.

Osamu Fujimura, Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary, said during a morning press conference that Japan had lodged a protest with Taiwan.

A Japanese coast guard vessel (right) sprays water against Taiwanese fishing boats, while a Taiwanese coast guard ship (left) also sprays water in the East China Sea Tuesday.

"In terms of the security surrounding the Senkaku Islands, we will continue to work together with the relevant ministries with a sense of alertness, and gather various information and vigilantly monitor the situation," he said.

"Our position is that this needs to be resolved under framework of our friendly ties with Taiwan, and to deal with the situation calmly," he added.

Chinese protesters: 'The Diaoyu islands belong to China!'

While few experts expect a military confrontation, an unintended clash at sea would increase tension, although all sides are expected to try to manage the spat before it spirals out of control.

NBC News emailed Taiwan's foreign ministry requesting comment on the incident and received a reply saying, "Thank you for your concerns about the issue, and please be patient for our further response."

September 18, the anniversary of Japan's 1931 invasion of Manchuria, is seen as a day of national humiliation in China, marked by protests even when relations with Japan are stable. This year's anniversary came amidst a Sino-Japanese dispute over an island chain called the Senkaku islands in Japanese and known to Chinese as the Diaoyu islands. NBC's Angus Walker reports.

The islands are also claimed by China, which has long regarded Taiwan as a breakaway province that is actually part of China.

Meanwhile in China, Japan's Vice-Foreign Minister Chikao Kawai began talks with his Chinese counterpart, Zhang Zhijun, the first diplomatic meeting between the two countries since anti-Japanese riots erupted over 100 cities across China amid rising tensions over the Senkaku/Diaoyu islands.

Emotional anniversary reignites anti-Japan protests in China

Before Tuesday's meeting, the Japanese envoy told journalists that he planned to explain Japan's position in a frank manner.

"Considering the difficult situation involving Sino-Japanese relations, we would like to do our best to move our relationship forward,? Kawai said.

Much at stake for US as tensions rise in troubled China Seas

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman on Monday suggested that a resolution of the dispute would be difficult.

"China will elaborate on its position on the Diaoyu Islands, demand that Japan correct its mistakes and make efforts to improve Sino-Japanese relations,? Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hong Lei said, according to the UPI news service.

PFT: NFL says Packers can't appeal outcome

201209242335849551075-p2Getty Images

The standard for determining whether a call should be overturned by replay review, as once explained by former Packers and Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren, is whether 50 drunks in a bar would agree that it was a bad call.

As to the final play from last night?s Packers-Seahawks game, millions of sober people believe that the ruling on the field should have been overturned.? Those millions don?t include the league office ? and they definitely don?t include Seahawks coach Pete Carroll.

?They said that the call was correct, and after review [it] was correct . . . because it was a simultaneous catch,? Carroll said Tuesday, on ESPN 710?s Brock & Salk.? ?So that?s it.? And that?s the NFL who?s in charge of the whole thing.? That?s not the officials on the field, that?s the league office said that.? And so, you know, it?s hard for everybody to accept, but that?s what it is and I don?t care.?

Regardless of whether there was indisputable visual evidence to reverse the touchdown, Carroll seems to think that the call as made on the field was the correct call.

?They were right on the point, looking right at it,? Carroll said of the officials.?? ?Standing right over the thing.? And they reviewed it.? Whether they missed the push or not, obviously they missed the push in there, in the battle for the ball.? But that stuff goes on all time.? They see it, they don?t see it.? That happens with the official officials.? And so the result is they called it, the league backed it up, game over, we win.?

Carroll may feel that way, some of his players may feel that way, and some of the team?s fans may feel that way.? But most objective observers believe it was a bad call, that it should have been overturned, and that the NFL?s stubborn insistence on winning the negotiation with the locked-out officials has created one of the most dubious moments in league history.

Congratulations, NFL.? We can only wonder what the encore will be.

Archbishop-Elect Cordileone: LGBTs in Relationships Should Not ...

Posted September 24th, 2012 by John M. Becker

Salvatore Cordileone, archbishop-elect of San Francisco, said in a recent interview that gay and lesbian Catholics in sexual relationships of any kind should not present themselves for the Sacrament of Holy Communion, the holiest sacrament of the Catholic church. The Los Angeles Times?reports:

. . .in a recent interview at the headquarters of the Oakland diocese, where he has served as bishop for three years, Cordileone was more direct: Gays and lesbians who are in sexual relationships of any kind, he said, should not receive the sacrament of Holy Communion, the central ritual of Catholic life.

?If we misuse the gift of sexuality, we?re going to suffer the consequences,? he said, ?and I firmly believe we are suffering the consequences.?

Cordileone, who was arrested last month on drunk driving charges, then elaborated, puzzlingly appearing to blame same-sex couples for the problem of absentee fathers in the inner city:

The prelate?s light-filled office overlooks Oakland?s Lake Merritt. Just beyond the graceful urban estuary, he said, are ?100 blocks of inner-city neighborhoods. Those are fatherless children.?

Archbishop-elect Cordileone was appointed in July by Pope Benedict XVI to head the San Francisco Archdiocese in a move widely seen as a thumb in the eye to the LGBT civil rights movement. He assumes the new position on October 4.

RIM shows off native Facebook and Foursquare apps for BlackBerry 10, confirms Twitter and LinkedIn for launch

RIM has had to deal with a few big names leaving their BlackBerry apps behind, but it's managed to keep four of the biggest on board for its forthcoming BlackBerry 10 devices. That includes Facebook, which will have a native app that RIM revealed for the first time at today's BlackBerry Jam Americas conference. Not surprisingly, the app itself doesn't look a whole lot different than the Facebook apps for Android or iOS, but it is fully integrated with the OS and promises to take advantage of the new Flow interface and features like the BlackBerry Hub. What's more, while it didn't demo them today, RIM also confirmed that BB10-specific LinkedIn, Twitter and Foursquare apps will also be available at launch.

Update: RIM did later give a quick demo of the Foursquare app (pictured after the break), which it says was able to be ported to BB10 in a week by just two developers.

Private Space Travel Gets a Big Boost in California

As NASA's space shuttle Endeavour orbiter flew to its retirement home in sunny California today (Sept. 21), Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. signed legislation to bolster the commercial spaceflight sector in that state.

The Assembly bill limits liability for private spaceflight companies.

?California aerospace pioneers like Virgin Galactic, SpaceX and the Spaceship Company are blazing a path to the stars with commercial space travel,? Brown said in a statement. ?This bill allows commercial space-travel companies to innovate and explore without the worry of excessive liability.?

A summary overview of Assembly Bill 2243 shows that it provides qualified immunity from liability to a spaceflight entity for injuries to a space flight participant, so long as a written warning statement is provided to the participant and the injury was not the result of spaceflight entity's gross negligence or intentional acts. [Now Boarding: The Top 10 Private Spaceships]

The bill requires a spaceflight entity to have each participant sign a ?prescribed warning statement? acknowledging that the participant understands the ?inherent risks associated with space flight activity, including death, and also acknowledging that the space flight entity has limited liability for injuries or damages sustained by a participant as a result of these inherent risks.?

High desert

Leading the measure that was targeted to an emerging industry in California was Assemblyman Steve Knight (R-Palmdale). Last August, the bill unanimously passed in both houses of the California State Legislature.

Knight also said in a statement that, until recently, human space travel was accomplished through government space agencies, with volunteer participants assuming liability for injury and damage. Assembly Bill 2243 provides limited liability for commercial space ventures to ensure innovators remain competitive in this promising marketplace.

?California, and specifically the High Desert, has a long tradition of pioneering aviation for a century, and human spaceflight since the Apollo era, and was the site of the first private human space flight event, which resulted in the winning of the Ansari X Prize in Mojave, California, in 2004,? Knight said.

History of spaceflight

Over the past few decades, Knight added, California has lost a significant slice of its human spaceflight industry development to other states, specifying Alabama, Colorado, Florida, New Mexico and Texas. The human spaceflight business in California, he said, continues to struggle due to the poor business climate in general, and the current litigious environment.

?The history of space flight and California are inseparable,? Knight said. ?Providing the commercial space industry with a competitive advantage will ensure our state maintains and possibly gains jobs in this important market.?

The bill-signing was praised by Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson, who called California a state that tears down barriers and cultivates innovation, from social movements like environmentalism to the start-up culture of Silicon Valley.

Branson called the bill a benefit to the teams at Virgin Galactic and The Spaceship Co. at the Mojave Air and Space Port ? the construction site of the?WhiteKnightTwo/SpaceShipTwo launch system.

?This legislation will ensure that California continues to be a place that looks forward ? and not back,? Branson said.

Orlando, Sarasota Luxury Holiday Home Rental fees ? Excellent ...

So your family is coming back visitor for you to Orlando and contains been to Walt disney world World. You want to investigate more family fun activities inside Central Florida Region. This can be a perfect time and energy to rent an affordable Orlando Florida Vacation Residence as your principal base to your current holiday as well as potential vacations throughout Orlando.

The benefits of these Orlando, florida Florida Vacation homes near disney are many. If you are in a intricate development you will typically have a minumum of one large resort community swimming pool and hot tub. These pools typically usually are not very congested as the majority of everyone is out going to the Parks. There?s also typically playing golf and baseball facilities in addition to outdoor bbq grills, gated gates and Seven by Twenty-four onsite protection. The facilities are landcaping with nice walkways and several have a center piece pond location. Most are all-around a major food store as well as many restaurants. A person generally have comfortable access to I4 and will avoid a lot travel around the local highways.

Best of all could be the price as well as space inside facility. When you have more than 4 people in your current group you?ll save even more as possible difficult to arrange a single accommodation that will allow for more than 4 people. You will find 3 as well as 4 room facilities that will sleep 8-10 or 12 in the $100 for you to $125 dollar an evening range in the course of peak season. These products will typically have between 1300 as well as 1700 square feet of just living space together with 3 or more bathrooms, broadband internet, televisions in all the bedrooms, plus a living room, kitchen and full kitchen to read a few of the facilities. If you eat breakfast time in the unit every morning you save $350 or more to the week upon breakfast alone.

Some more things my loved ones loves to carry out in the Orlando, florida Area contain Universal Studios, Wet N Wild, Sea World, Outdated Town Orlando, florida, The Kennedy Area Center as well as Busch Gardens Tampa.

If your students are in their teenage years they?ll love Common Studios as well as Islands of risk. The Hulk will be my kids all time favorite and The Mummy is among my favorite trips. The big trips at Common are more thrilling for the teenagers than the Disney Park Voyages and there is adequate for the younger ones as well as parents that it is a great time for all.

Kennedy Space Heart is a great consider and you can stop in at the Atlantic while you are there as well. If you are lucky enough to maintain Orlando if you have a start scheduled you should try to go to the Kennedy Area Center on on that day. It is an wonderful experience to see a start, whether it is a manned or unmanned satellite tv launch.

Sea World is a bit bit distinct experience, not as many trips and very interesting animal exhibits and exhibits. It is a minor less congested than the other parks as well as a little slower pace. A pleasant mid 7 days break in the other recreational areas.

Old City has an previously time sense to it. There?s also some county fair type trips, a drag racing experience and a insane sling picture ride. Mother and father don?t get also aggravated once your kids injure yourself over the county fair rides once you?ve spent big money on the Car park Tickets. Additionally there is a parade involving antique vehicles that drive-thru the thin Old City Streets.

As you can see, there are a lot of various things to experience of the Main Florida Place. These are just a few of my favorite activities.

There is no much better way to experience the Orlando Florida Area than from a very inexpensive Orlando Holiday Home.

I hope you and your family have many happy give back visits for you to Orlando Florida.
